Breadlington Update #1 - Mission Statement

Hello! My online alias is Breadlington. I am writing to update people on the site and the direction I wish to take it. Consider this a charter and constitution wrapped into one.

Firstly, this is a news blog. Secondly, an open forum for discussion and a safe haven for left-wing leanings. Thirdly, anything else. That means the shop and whatever else comes way after everything else.

On the news blog, there will be, well, news. I will not lie to you by telling you it's unbiased because it's not. The regular news is unbiased but the things we cover will lean left. The opinions and other essays are very clearly not news per se and are rather partial. Though I hope to one day also have someone on board that leans at least a little right. With that said, the official staff knows that we strive for perfection in our news, opinions, and even our typical blog-type posts. The current goal is one article per staff writer per week. More than the typical new website content-wise but less than the big corporations. None of the writers are getting paid especially since we don't currently make any revenue. We are also not a registered business quite just yet but I hope to one day be able to pay the writers.

There is an application page solely so that people can either submit their work to be featured on the site or apply to be a staff writer.

Breadlington is also a discussion, forum, and social media site. The aim here is to have people funnel over from the news side to the forum side. I want to make clear that bigotry will not be tolerated and I will personally moderate the forums and the groups (Twitter-esque feature still working on it). Not much to say about the social side of the site, go wild and enjoy.

We have a mobile app as well but it's kinda rough.

Anywhomst, enjoy the website, I can't wait to see you all read the blog posts and discuss in the forums!
